Corporate Team Building FAQs

Your questions about corporate team building answered!

Corporate workshops image1) What is team building and why hire it in the corporate world today?

ANSWER: Team building is a collective term for various activities an HR department at a company may sanction. The department uses these activities to improve social relations and define roles within staff teams. It's ultimate aim is to enhance the effectiveness of working relationships using collaborative activities. These aforesaid activities have clearly defined goals and explore individual roles and working relationships. Clearly, there are great benefits to this. Encouraging employees to value more communication and teamwork helps improve work relationships and efficiency. It also fosters a strong corporate culture, of course.

2) What ethnic artists can I hire who have experience in team building?

ANSWER: Several of our tropical entertainers from Caribbean, African, Asian and Latin American backgrounds have run corporate team builds in the past. As a result, they understand the difference between these and regular workshops.

3) How does ethnic arts team building differ from regular ethnic arts workshops?

ANSWER: A regular ethnic arts workshop demands that our tutors handle all of the instruction. However, our team building experience ensures that work colleagues will have to learn from each other too in these sessions. Under these circumstances they can recognise each other's skills and efficiently achieve the goals we set for them. Furthermore, our facilitators understand the different demands of organising team building effectively. So they will organise the sessions according to the numbers of participants and the time you give us.

4) Why is sensitivity towards cultural diversity important in a work team?

ANSWER: Diversity of all kinds within the workforce and the understanding of it is very advantageous to a company. Happy and engaged employees tend to perform better, for sure. However, employees will neither be happy or engaged if they suffer prejudice and discrimination from their colleagues.

5) Are your ethnic arts teachers qualified and insured?

ANSWER: Some of them have teaching qualifications, but most have been educated in the University of Life. As a result, they'll bring their experiences as members of an ethnic minority to any corporate team building event. This is a useful tool indeed! In addition, we have full public liability insurance cover for our talented and experienced facilitators. Furthermore, they have all been DBS checked and can show their certification on their arrival at your venue. Of course, we can send this certification to you by email as well before your event.

6) Where should ethnic arts team building activities take place?

ANSWER: Team building activities should take place outside of the office. It's true that employees spend a great deal of time with each other. But, they are often too busy working to interact with each other regularly. A day out of the office allows employees to see each other in a different light. It also allows them to interact with colleagues they may not work with on a regular basis. It’s hard to get to know someone when all you discuss is work. By leaving the office behind, employees can discuss their families and outside interests. Some employees will surely discover common interests and hobbies. The better they get to know each other, the more connected they will feel. It's important to recognise that people who like each other work better together in a team. Work can be very stressful, but being surrounded by people you like being around can make a big difference in an employee’s motivation.

7) How do your Tropical Entertainers make ethnic arts team building interactive?

ANSWER: Participants will be organised into groups and those groups will be encouraged to select leaders.  Based on their suitability and their ability those leaders can then organise those best suited for the different skills required. Those skills will be needed to fulfil the artistic task that has been set by ua as their facilitators. We’ll then do our best to encourage bonding within the group and a competitive spirit when the teams compete against each other!
A winning team- fairly judged by the participants themselves- will emerge, but everybody participating will benefit from the experience. So, everyone’s a winner!

8) Can I hire teachers who deliver team building on steel pans/steel drums?

ANSWER: You may have seen Solid Steel instructing the contestants in ‘The Generation Game’ to play the steel drum in a YouTube video of ours. The show’s BBC producers knew that playing a steel drum or ‘pan’ is a lot of fun and, having seen one of our artist’s entertaining music workshops, paid us the compliment of inviting us on to one of their biggest Christmas specials! We do a lot of fun workshops for the likes of company barbecues and even hen nights. However, the steel drum really is an instrument that’s best played within a larger group with a real collective band ethic in play. Which is, of course, ideal for proper team building. It's also ideal for those employees taking part. This is because they will take pride in learning to play a song together with their colleagues in a steel band.  For many of them it will be the greatest musical achievement of their lives!

9) Are ethnic arts team building activities available during a pandemic?

ANSWER: Our tropical performers conduct their team builds with the correct social distancing etiquette and procedures necessary. This can happen throughout delivery and regular sanitisation will be employed in the sharing of any instruments. So unless the authorities deem them unsafe this kind of team building hire can and should still be available. During this pandemic we have seen the free world embrace the social principles of Black Lives Matter. Our black artists commit fully to both the performance and the delivery of their ethnic arts team building. Certainly in the Black History month of October, but not exclusively so!

10) What are the benefits of ethnic arts team builds over other team builds?

ANSWER: In the UK few companies don’t embrace diversity of all kinds in their workforce. Our ethnic drummers are great teachers who will help all the participants to gain an understanding and respect for other ethnicities and cultures. Subsequently this should encourage them to further embrace cultural diversity and the concept of teamwork! Some employees that are from an ethnic minority themselves may feel there is a lack of representation at management level. Whether this is true or not, an ethnic arts team build feels like a hug from the company. It will demonstrate how well your company values them, individually.
